For one of my final year projects, I entered the Macmillan Illustration Prize. I wrote and illustrated my own story, titled 'Goodbye, Wonderwood', a tale about struggling to fit into an ordinary world as a creative child, exploring themes of escapism, belonging, and how love and connection can ground us.
I developed a personal illustrative style with a touch of whimsy, using it to reinforce the story’s meaning. For example, when the main character is in the real world, everything and everyone appears scribbled, nonsensical, and slightly frustrating, as if drawn by the character themself.
